About

I am an experienced psychoanalyst and psychotherapist working with adults.

I offer treatment for a range of issues including depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, eating disorders, bereavement issues, identity and personality issues, difficulties with anger and general dissatisfaction and sadness. Many people seek treatment when difficulties feel persistent, recurring, or rooted in longstanding patterns. I offer a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space in which to explore whatever may be troubling you. I specialise in medium to longer term work but am also available for shorter term therapy.

I also offer supervision to qualified and trainee counsellors and psychotherapists.

I am a member of the British Psychoanalytic Association (BPA), the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA). I previously worked in the NHS as a psychotherapist.

My consulting room is in central Brighton.

Psychoanalysis

Psychoanalysis developed from the recognition that we unconsciously repeat patterns from our past in our current lives. Sometimes we may be aware of these patterns, but at other times they may be more hidden from consciousness. These thoughts and emotions, by their very nature, are deep-seated and often very unhelpful. We can find ourselves repeating destructive behaviours, being stuck in unhappy relationships, limiting our personal and professional capacities.

Sessions are 50 minutes long and are offered once to five times weekly. Frequency and duration will be explored during the consultation process.

Appointments and Contact

After a brief telephone conversation, we will arrange to meet for one or more initial consultations. This is an opportunity to explore what has brought you to seek psychoanalytic psychotherapy, if it is an appropriate treatment for you and whether we wish to work together. These meetings usually last up to an hour and a half.

Fees vary depending on the agreed therapy offer and are discussed individually as part of the first consultation.

To arrange an initial consultation or to find out more, please contact me by telephone or email. Your messages will be confidential.

My consulting room is a 10 minute walk from Brighton Railway Station and there are numerous buses serving the surrounding area. There is also metered parking available in nearby streets.
